    Those studying homicides of young people in NM now know that the apparent low rate of abducted and murdered young women in the state was actually only due to the lack of attention and information.

    All of these women were loved by one if not many people. Seeing our neice on the front page was not good for her children who look for her to come back everyday. Sadness comsumed them today at home and at their schools. Maybe someone will take a closer look at these faces and remember something that will help find them. Then and only then the front page will have been worth the pain .

    This is needed as many times police are wrongly blamed for this lack of attention to the matter. The only limits are by law databases and investigate. Being an adult and missing is not a crime unless their are other circumstances behind the disappearance. This is where media must also be fair and balanced to carry the stories along with hope. Many times families will not report missing folks due to their livestyles right or wrong this needs to happen. Despite what is rumored or said the oath is to serve and protect all under law and despite some public-citizens feelings (as most investigations are closed) this does not make the cases less important to detectives...An overwhelming workload or case load does!

    Thank you for this article. I too wondered this morning while watching the news why this story isn't being given more airtime. The news people don't seem to be making a big deal about these 13 people. Is it because they were prostitutes? Whatever the reason they mattered to someone, they were someones children. They all had some beauty in them. A story should be done on the life path that lead them to this horrible ending, it may help send a message to other young women that there are better choices that can be made.
